Gallery Alison Davis
I joined Houghton Art Club 2001 having not painted since A level in 1973. I took early retirement 2011 after a 37- year career in social work/ youth work and management. I now have the time to concentrate on my art. I have attended local acrylic and pastel painting courses and painting holidays. I prefer pastel and watercolour, painting many different subjects, landscape, flowers, and animals. I take the subjects from my own experiences and views from walking. My major influences are the Pre Raphaelites for their intensity of colour, any painter of skies, my mam Florence, and the many artists I have seen on art tours and at exhibitions. I am also a member of the Beamish Art Group and enjoying painting at Beamish Museum.
