Gallery Dave Ridgewell
I was born in Seaham, Co Durham but now live at East Herrington. I was educated at Ryhope Grammar School until the age of 16 at which point I started work as a trainee biomedical scientist in the Sunderland Pathology Department. I continued my working career for 41 years as a Biomedical Scientist in Microbiology.
I am now enjoying retirement with my wife and family. I attended a watercolour course when I first retired and enjoyed it immensely but felt I needed to improve on my drawing abilities. My ambition was to draw portraits of my grandchildren. I took up membership with Houghton Art Club October 2012 and now have become very interested in realistic drawing inspired by artists like J.D.Hilberry and the now famous Kelvin Okafor who specialises in ‘photo realism’.
I play golf regularly at Wearside and have been a member for 34 years. My other hobbies include photography, reading and watching football.
