Gallery Sandra Ellis (Under construction art work to follow)
I began painting in 1997 with the help of a book on landscapes by Alwyn Crawshaw, using acrylic paints, then I tried some birds and flowers. However, I gave up after a year or so as I had no-one to help me learn more techniques and make progress. Last year (2012) I visited the Houghton Festival and went to see the exhibition by local artists, and there I met some very friendly people who encouraged me to join their group. I am so glad I did, as now I am no longer a lonely painter and I have friends who offer me help and encouragement. Since I retired I have more time to paint, and mostly use pastels and watercolours, though I plan to re-acquaint myself with acrylics next year.
